Who we are
Our community's Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth (RCIY) programme began in 2006 and is led by a team of committed people who share the common vision of spreading the faith to youth outside of the community and of the church itself. Dedicated to journeying with youths from their first contact to baptism and beyond, the members of the RCIY ministry have certainly gone beyond the call of duty to spread the word of God beyond the walls of our Parish and youth community. Their effort has made RCIY grow from an initial group of 20 members to a vibrant community of 50-odd members, made up of Facilitators, Befrienders and Inquirers, from all walks of life.
"I joined RCIY as a non-believer and did not expect much out of it. I was full of hesitation and wondering what I could possibly get out of this. However, since the first session, I have been embraced fully by the group and felt that I belonged in this community. What makes RCIY unique and appealing to me is that it blends experiences of the heart and theory teachings in the weekly sessions. This draws me to come back every week, as every session is always something new and enlightening. In this year-long journey with RCIY, I have taken away life lessons that will stay with me for life, and guide my actions in the future." - Marcus Ng, 20 years old, baptised in 2012.
